Agatha Christie’s Poirot: The Hallowe’en Party (series’ episode)

Created by author Agatha Christie, Hercule Poirot is an eccentric Belgian detective who settled in London after the war. In this Halloween special, there is a Hallowe’en party in a village, where a girl brags about bearing witness to a murder that happened years ago. She is not believed until her corpse is found later in the evening, drowned in an apple-bobbing bucket.

The Turn of the Screw (1999)

Genre: Horror, Mystery

A film adaptation of Henry James’ novel starring Colin Firth (The King’s Speech, Mamma Mia) and Jodhi May (The Witcher, A World Apart). “A young, inexperienced governess is hired to look after two small children abandoned by their uncle, following the death of their parents, at his grand country house. Unsettled by glimpses of ghostly figures that only she can see, she quickly believes that something malevolent is stalking the children in her care.” (BritBox’s synopsis).
