Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun have reportedly called off their engagement. Love is not always easy and sometimes relationships end when we least expect it to. HOLR is breaking down the details of how the split supposedly happened.
Engagement called off
As noted by Page Six, Avril Lavigne’s now ex-fiance Mod Sun has been away on tour to promote his album God Save the Teen and still is. The “When We’re Dead” singer was surprised about the change in his relationship with Lavigne, although the former couple appeared to have been having issues for months. They previously broke up and got back together several times and even went on double dates with Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox, but now things are ending for good just less than a year after Mod Sun proposed to Lavigne in Paris back in March 2022. Their last moment of togetherness in public was at a pre-Grammy event in Los Angeles.

Avril Lavigne Mod Sun Relationship Timeline
Lavigne and Mod Sun first met in 2021 and collaborated on a song titled “Flames” for Mod Sun’s album Internet Killed the Rockstar. Since then, they have appeared in each other’s albums and music videos, with Lavigne and Mod Sun sharing a duet in “Shelter”. Mod Sun most recently was featured in Lavigne’s album Love Sux.
If Mod Sun and Lavigne had not called off their engagement, Lavigne would be celebrating her third marriage. She was previously married from 2006 to 2009 to Derrick Whibley of the rock band Sum 41. After divorcing Whibley, Lavigne was married from 2013 to 2015 to Chad Kroeger of the rock band Nickelback.

Avril Lavigne Tyga Dinner at NOBU
Although Lavigne’s splitting up from Mod Sun was allegedly not caused by cheating on either side of the party, TMZ reported that the “My Happy Ending” singer was seen on the night of February 20th hugging a rapper, Tyga, in a parking lot and leaving together in the same car after enjoying a NOBU dinner with fellow celebrities. Tyga and Lavigne have been hanging out a lot but it’s not immediately known if anything romantic is going on with the two.
