Nicole Kidman has needed to put her acting versatility to the test in her latest movie Holland. In this twisty thriller by director Mimi Cave, she plays Nancy Vandergroot who lives a seemingly happy life with her sweet husband Fred (Matthew Macfadyen) and waggish son Harry (Jude Hill) in Holland, Michigan. But all is not what it seems in this small town, where people smile a bit too wide, and families are a bit too perfect.

Kidman’s Nancy sees her life begin to crack at the seams as she discovers Holland is filled with twisted secrets—ones that her loving husband may be in on. To uncover what is going on in her quant hometown, she teams up with new teacher Dave Delgado (Gael García Bernal), becoming an unconventional duo of investigators.

Co-Star Jude Hill admits to being “scared” to curse at Nicole Kidman

Jude Hill, known for his role in Belfast, spoke with People about his experiences filming Holland and playing Kidman’s son.

He told them he “enjoyed every second of it,” calling filming “fantastic” and “surreal.” Though he admitted he certainly had not been ready for a specific scene. At one point in the movie, Kidman’s character fires the family babysitter, which infuriates her son. In anger, Hill’s character curses at his mother.

“I was kind of scared at first,” Hill told People. “Swearing at Nicole Kidman definitely wasn’t on my bingo card for that year.” But in the end, he said everything turned out fine, even admitting that Kidman and he “got really into it.”

Be sure not to miss out on this exciting scene. Holland will stream on Prime Video on March 27th.
