The singer is stepping in for the previous musical guest, Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

It’s about damn time! It’s official: Lizzo will be taking part in SNL’s final episode of 2022! The singer is stepping in for the previous musical guests – Yeah Yeah Yeahs- after the group had to cancel their appearance due to a medical issue.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs posted this message to their Instagram detailing the cancellation:

According to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the band is stepping down to support member, Nick, as he battles pneumonia. Yeah Yeah Yeahs is “heartbroken” that they can’t “rise to these occasions” but are looking forward to “a strong return in 2023.”

SNL introduced this lineup change during the latest episode Saturday night on December 10th. Selena Gomez also made a surprise appearance during this episode in one of the show’s skits.

Lizzo will headline the music during the final; show of 2022 (December 17th) and will be joined by host Austin Butler.

Lizzo was SNL’s musical guest back in April where she performed her top hit, “About Damn Time.”  We’re excited to see Lizzo back on the SNL stage just in time to ring in the holiday season.
