Clooney, 63, and Pitt, 60, sat down with Zach Baron, GQ’s Senior Staff Writer, to reflect on their careers and aging in Hollywood.
“I remember when I was 20 years old and I heard somebody died at 63? I’m like… they lived a good life,” Clooney said.
“I’m really just trying to enjoy the people that I love around me and just living,” Pitt said.
Clooney and Pitt also discussed the idea of mortality and how the journey of aging is something that everyone goes through, regardless of being in Hollywood.
“It doesn’t matter how many granola bars I eat. In 20 years, I’m 80. And that’s a different number,” Clooney said.
“You start to understand this idea of mortality… and that is something we all have to deal with,” Pitt continued.
Are George Clooney and Brad Pitt Friends?
Baron asked Clooney and Pitt, “Are you guys actually friends?”
“Yeah man, we’re friends. We’ve been friends for a long time. And it’s fun because we also check in on each other every once in a while, which is an important part of this,” Clooney replied.
“Things get complicated in life and you always have to make sure everybody’s okay,” Clooney continued.
“I’ll call George on numerous occasions when things get bumpy,” Pitt replied.
“I know he’s got my back. I got his back,” Pitt continued.

Amal Clooney, British international human rights lawyer and wife to George Clooney, share twin children together: Ella and Alexander.
Clooney briefly discussed with Baron about his determination to keep his children out of the spotlight.
“So I have a goal of trying to protect, I don’t want pictures of my kids. We deal in very serious subject matters, with very serious bad guys, and we don’t want to have photos of our kids out there,” Clooney said.
