Are Aaliyah and Lydia still friends?
So many people have asked this question and now Lydia Velez Gonzalez has set the record straight.
Recently Lydia sat down with People to discuss her friendship with Aaliyah and revealed that she had no hard feelings toward her former friend.
“That, unfortunately I think, that ship has sailed — our friendship,” Lydia said.

After being embroiled in a love triangle during season 5 of ‘Love is Blind,’ Lydia and Aaliyah’s bond broke.
But what happened between Lydia and Aaliyah to break the friendship?
Firstly, I think it really had been meant as a sort of quip but instead resulted in heated words between them off screen.
An off-hand comment by Aaliyah where she allegedly told Lydia that if things didn’t work out with her [Aaliyah] and Uche; she [Lydia] could have him back.
Ouch! and a little uncalled for, not to mention hurtful if that is how it went.
What is the one thing that destroys a friendship?
Perhaps the biggest no-no for a friend is to show a lack of empathy.
And that seems to be what Aaliyah did with Lydia, but that aside Lydia had only kind words for her old friend.
“I respect her choice. I don’t judge her by it, and I have never [spoken poorly] about her, and I cannot say the same for her about me. So, I wish her the best.”
Support for Aaliyah grows while people begin to question Lydia.
While Lydia may be taking the high road and choosing to remember the good times,
“We had a really great friendship. And I’m going to stick with those moments.”

Fans of the show are not ready to share that sentiment.
In fact, people are questioning how nobody can see it’s weird that Lydia even befriended Aaliyah in the first place.
@virgobby97 wrote, “How are the girls not understanding how weird it is that Lydia befriended Aaliyah after knowing she had a connection with Uche?? #LoveIsBlind”
But there has been one view that has many in agreement.
“It’s interesting how most of the women had Lydia’s back and not Aaliyah’s,” the post read.
