Until recently, the Fantastic Four remained outside the realm of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the movie rights were held by 20th Century Fox. Under Fox’s stewardship, the franchise saw the release of three films: “Fantastic Four” (2005) and its sequel “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” (2007), featuring Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis, and Chris Evans (pre-Captain America) in the lead roles. However, Fox’s 2015 attempt to reboot the franchise with Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, and Michael B. Jordan was met with both critical and commercial disappointment. Following Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox in 2019, the Fantastic Four finally found their way into the Marvel Studios fold, opening the door for their inclusion in the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.
