The creative director of the Christian Dior brand, Peter Philips, had an outstanding share of his reasons and inspiration for creating images and expressing the beauty of jeweled outfits and accessories through pictures of models. He gave honest explanations as to why he used pearl jewelry for the eyes of most of the models on the show.
Philips creates pearl accessories by attaching them around the eye contour to create a highlight for the face as well as the outfits. White and bright pearls both create novelty and show the uniqueness and luxury in the collection. In addition, the second pair of pearls are attached to the outer corners of the models to establish the connection to this jewelry. Philips has taken advantage of two tones from the 5 Couleurs Couture Cruise 2022 palette with the limited edition that he personally prepared for the collection. He used yellow tones on the eyelids to create a natural highlight and a bit of sand gold embellished to make the eyes unique. “Not so much to create length, but more to create volume and enhance a natural-looking eyeliner effect,” he said.
Creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri had previously shown Philips a photo of a woman with pearl hair. It was this that deeply inspired him about this jewelry. Chiuri also mentioned as inspiration to Philips the Greek gallerist Alexandre Iolas, who represented many Surrealist artists. Combining pearl accents on the eyes with a sports theme, plus clothing items like futuristic gowns or sneakers, will give everyone a new look at the Dior 2022 show.
