Porsche is excited to announce the brand’s latest campaign- their ‘Back to the Future’ charging infrastructure project. This project officially launched to coincide with Back to the Future Day on Thursday, October 21, 2021, and the announcement went live on Porsche Newsroom, in which the spot was also shared on Porsche’s YouTube channel.

Porsche is a German automobile manufacturer that is most notably famous for its lineup of performance sports cars, SUVs and Sedans. Back to the Future Day on October 21 marks the day that time traveller and character Marty McFly travelled to in Back to the Future: Part II. To celebrate, Porsche tapped into the significance of the day and released an engaging video on the brand’s Youtube channel. As Porsche continues to discover new ways to allow their customers to spend less time charging and more time travelling, Porsche did the math and at the rate of expansion, they were about to reach 1.21 gigawatts of power in mid-October, coincidentally around the time of Back to the Future day.

To celebrate the day, Porsche released a 60-second film that commemorates the DeLorean of Back to the Future as well as the electric Porsche Taycan. The film shows a Taycan riding alongside the DeLorean, in which the infamous movie icon is seen overtaking it before it disappears. In the exciting clip, Porsche included memorable nods to the classic film that fans of the franchise will make note of.

For some background insight on how this project came to be, it was born out of curiosity of just how much electric power (expanding rapidly and becoming more efficient and convenient each day) is contained within the fast-charging network across thousands of sites in North America and Europe.

Porsche created this short film here to mark the milestone with a guest appearance by the car that predated the Taycan by some 36 years in harnessing all of that power.

Be sure to check out the above video for more information on the latest project from the brand and how they are inspiring individuals to think about the power of electric power. As Porsche details in this latest announcement, there’s no need to go back to the future because now you can spend less time charging and more time travelling.
