First appearing in Alfred Hitchcock Presents in 1959, Chamberlain enjoyed a long and versatile career in entertainment. For instance, at the start of his career, he made appearances in popular television shows such as Gunsmoke, Mr. Lucky, and Riverboat. In addition, Chamberlain also had a successful music career, which included his version of Three Stars Will Shine Tonight.
Richard Chamberlain Partner
While he was typically typecast as the quintessential male romantic lead in his youth, Chamberlain came out as gay at 68 years old. Specifically, Chamberlain believed that coming out would ruin his career until he got older.
“When you grow up in the ’30s, ’40s and ’50s being gay, it’s not only ain’t easy, it’s just impossible,” he told the New York Times.
Richard Chamberlain Husband
Chamberlain was romantically involved with actor and writer Martin Rabbett. The two actors were co-stars in the 1986 film Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold. Chamberlain and Rabbett were together for three decades before separating in 2010. However, allegedly, the two remained friends despite the breakup.
“He is free and soaring to those loved ones before us. How blessed we were to have known such an amazing and loving soul. Love never dies. And our love is under his wings lifting him to his next great adventure,” said Rabbett in a statement.
Without a doubt, modern heartthrobs (here) are talented. However, will they leave behind a legacy as big as Chamberlain’s?
