The yet-untitled project will feature Hamilton, his team, and all-star guest interviews. Furthermore, the documentary team apparently gained full access to his life, on and off the track, which gives the viewers a look behind-the-scenes of what makes up a successful Formula One driver.

Lewis Hamilton’s Formula One Career

In the official press release, Apple commends Hamilton for his “uncharted trail professionally, socially, and culturally, and transformed the sport on a global scale.” Born and raised in England to a working-class family, Hamilton bested an elite, niche sport such as Formula One. Not only that, he managed to nab a championship a year after joining Formula One. At the time of his first championship, he became the youngest world champion in the sport’s history, at the young age of twenty-three.

Since joining the races in 2007, the British driver received six more world championships, with his recent one from 2020. Additionally, he holds the most wins, pole positions, and podium finishes. Hamilton is also currently the only Black driver to race in the Formula One series. This pushes Hamilton to influence a positive change in future generations.

One notable act he did was during the 2021 Met Gala. As everyone knows, Met Gala is not only prestigious, but it is also hard to get in. Tickets apparently cost $30,000 per seat! That is, well, a lot! But not for Sir Lewis, of course! During last year’s Met, Lewis Hamilton paid for the tickets of three emerging Black designers (Theophilio, Kenneth Nicholson, and Jason Rembert), and sat them at his table with other Black innovators. He ended the night with an Instagram post with the caption, “the goal is, and always will be, to open doors for young Black creatives.”
