Morgan Wallen hosted Saturday Night Live alongside Mikey Madison on the 29th of March. However, the country icon has caused controversy for leaving straight after the show ended. SNL has since responded to this by poking fun at the country artist.

Morgan Wallen Controversy

The 35-year old country singer has caused another controversy. Specifically, Morgan Wallen has broken one of SNL‘s traditions. Instead of staying to chat with the host and cast after the show wrapped up, Wallen immediately left the stage.

This is not the first time Wallen has caused a controversy relating to SNL. For instance, in 2020 Wallen was pulled as a musical guest on the show after he was, allegedly, caught breaking COVID-19 protocols on video. However, the country singer returned to the show in December that year, and even referred to his cancellation in one of the show’s sketches.

SNL Response To Morgan Wallen

On April 5th, only one week after his controversial walkout, SNL poked fun at the country singer numerous times. Specifically, the comedy series made fun of Wallen during the Cold Open and the Weekend Update segments.

Morgan Wallen SNL Walk Off

While the singer has not publicly commented on his walkout, he did post a picture taken from a plane window with the caption “Get me to God’s country” after his appearance on the show.

The comedy sketch show made fun of this caption in their Cold Open segment. For instance, James Austin Johnson refers to it in a skit where he plays Donald Trump.

“I even put tariffs on an island uninhabited by humans. It’s called Heard and McDonald Island,” said Johnson. “McDonald Island. I would love to visit there. Can you imagine that? Big Mac and a hula skirt. Get me to God’s country, right? Remember that?”

Morgan Wallen SNL Cancelled

Later that night, Colin Jost made fun of the singer’s walkout during the Weekend Update. “Just in the past two days, investors have lost over $6 trillion. Money is leaving the stock market faster than Morgan Wallen at goodnights,” said Jost.

Reportedly, Wallen has yet to publicly comment on his walkout and SNL’s response.
