Lana Del Rey has caused controversy at her recent Stagecoach performance. The singer mentions kissing controversial country singer Morgan Wallen.

June 30, 2025: Lana Del Rey‘s newest project is going to be partly inspired by country music. This announcement left some fans perplexed, as Lana’s gothic-inspired tracks stand in sharp contrast to modern country music. However, Lana has been clear that there are some similarities between her melancholic lyrics and major themes in the country genre.

“All my albums are somewhat rooted in Americana… so I don’t think it will be a heavy departure,” said Lana in a Vogue interview.

“If anything, it will just be a little lighter lyrically and more pointed in a classic country, American, or Southern Gothic production — which, again, so many of my songs already are,“ she continues.

However, he performance at Stagecoach has left her fans feeling conflicted.

In one of her performances, Lana references divisive country singer Morgan Wallen.

“This is the last time I’m ever gonna say this line,” said Lana before singing the verse. “I kissed Morgan Wallen,” she sings. “I guess kissing me kind of went to his head / If you want my secret to success / I suggest don’t go ATV-ing with him when you’re out west.”

Lana is married to Jeremy Dufrene. Hence, she is not hinting at a current romantic relationship with Wallen. However, her name-dropping Wallen has left her fans divided.

Wallen has had several controversies over his career. One example of this is when he was suspended from his record label in 2021 for using a racial slur. However, Wallen has done many controversial things both before and since then.

“I love Lana, but this did not eat. It’s not really ‘shade’ when she kissed him & went on an ATV with home AFTER he was already known for being a bad person. She could have kept that to herself,” a fan commented on TikTok.
