Summer is finally here!

So, what better way to celebrate the new season ahead than with a new go-to spot in Toronto? The world-famous metropolitan city has a variety of food and drink options to choose from but these are the latest and greatest spots to check out when visiting the bustling downtown core.

HOLR was invited to experience Zitto Zitto Taverna and the city’s famous Hotblack Coffee to get the “dish” on Toronto’s top must-try places. Keep reading to find out more!

Founded by Alan and Anita Thompson, the husband and wife duo opened the delicious Sicilian-inspired dining location at College and Clinton in downtown Toronto. This new hotspot is the popular Sotto Voce’s sister establishment, where customers can find incredible seafood, pasta and meat dishes on the menu– which was created by Chef Alessandro Militello.

As soon as you walk into Zitto Zitto Taverna, you are welcomed by the establishment’s cocktail bar. In fact, the restaurant has four different dining spaces, each featuring a distinct ambiance. The entire space features a chic yet homey feel, with the central dining room including vintage photos from the Thompson family.

The menu is unlike any other. Curated Italian starters, mains and sides featuring everything from grilled meat to seafood are all carefully crafted and prepared. Food presentation is also key, as each dish comes beautifully plated and garnished. If there was ever a time to Instagram your food before diving in, this is it!

Hotblack Coffee

Otherwise known as the Best. Coffee. Ever. We have to agree on that.

With several locations across the city, Hotblack Coffee is one of Toronto’s most famous coffee shops. As you’re welcomed in by friendly, passionate staff, this is immediately a coffee shop you’ll want to visit over and over again.

Originally co-founded by Momi and Jimson Bienenstock, Toronto’s must-try coffee establishment features quality coffee, a great envioronment and tasty food.

So, what makes Hotblack Coffee so unique? This go-to spot doesn’t offer WiFi. As a coffee shop with no WiFi, customers are encouraged to chat with one another. This caused the location to go viral across news outlets everywhere, with Talk Show host Jimmy Fallon making light of the establishment on his show, whcih can be found here. The shop was also highlighted in the New York Times.
