The big talk in the music industry is Kendrick Lamar’s latest release, GNX.
Billboard notes via Forbes that Kendrick Lamar is only the third artist ever to have a trio of top charting tunes in the same calendar year.
Following Kendrick’s success from song of the summer “They Not Like Us”, fans were not expecting an end of year follow up that could rival his own infamous works.
Is Andrew Schulz The White Comedian Referenced in GNX?
An infamous line from opening track ‘wacced out murals’ reads “Ain’t no white comedians talking about black women. That’s facts.” The internet was quick to allocate comedian Andrew Schulz to who this may be about. The reference comes as a result of his commentary over the years. He discusses music politics on his podcasts Flagrant and Brilliant Idiots.
The clip that Kendrick could have possibly been referring to was from an episode of Flagrant. Charlamagne Tha God reviews the clip on a recent episode of Brilliant Idiots. After, he mentions: “Well that’s the first time I’m seeing that.” There were also two black women present, who went on to say that if you don’t know Andrew, it could be offensive.
Andrew gets serious and emphasizes that he doesn’t single out one group of people. “There are comedians who oftentimes use it as a smokescreen to just say some dumb jokes, but they are probably racist or hateful and that sucks and that’s just bad comedy.” explains Andrew.
Is Heart pt.6 a Diss Track Continuation?
The song shares the same title a previous diss track to Drake earlier this year, similarly, Forbes refers to this as the latest instalment to a series.
Many tabloids are covering the timeline of the long-standing beef between Drake and Kendrick. It first started with the world thirsty for a lyric battle between two rappers. They are constantly in competition for the top spot.
Atwood magazine goes onto say:
“Even while turning 37, a past-their-prime age for many rappers, he’s managed to spend much of 2024 making that dominance obvious. Nabbing the lead spot at the Super Bowl Halftime show, emerging triumphant in his questionable beef with Drake, and more.”
