The Idol Reviews

‘The Idol’ brought in controversial reviews and was seemingly not received very well by audience members, in which it got a 19% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, as noted here. As noted in this excerpt from a recent Variety article, here’s what an HBO spokesperson had to say about the show being canceled:

“‘The Idol’ was one of HBO’s most provocative original programs, and we’re pleased by the strong audience response. After much thought and consideration, HBO, as well as the creators and producers have decided not to move forward with a second season. We’re grateful to the creators, cast, and crew for their incredible work.”

‘The Idol’ only had 5 episodes in its first season which is one short of the proposed 6 episodes. The show ended on July 2 and has since been canceled.
