Why is McSweeney suing? HOLR breaks down the details.

The former ‘Housewives’ star had previously struggled with sobriety, nine years before she joined “Real Housewives of New York”. Once she was on the show, she seemingly fell into drinking again.

According to this related article, McSweeney is reportedly claiming that they (the defendants) intentionally influenced her to drink again while knowing her previous struggles with alcohol. In the court papers, she stated that she felt they knew she was vulnerable because of her issues and saw that as an opportunity to hit more ratings.

The papers also claimed when the star didn’t want to drink, they would find other ways to get on-camera meltdowns that they wanted from her.

McSweeney’s attorneys claimed that an episode Bravo named “Hurricane Leah” was one of the highest-rated episodes of a season because of the star’s clear struggles and disabilities.

The Civil lawsuit was filed Tuesday in the Southern District of New York, and reportedly named Cohen, Bravo Media, NBC, Universal Media, Warner Bros, and producers John Paparazzo, Lisa Shannon, and Darren Ward, according to People. The court documents are a 109-page complaint.
