The chairs and co-chairs of the event showed up in their best and most accurate “Gilded Age” attire, something that many people finally decided to follow. Each year there are a handful of celebrities that you just wonder, “did you even try?”

But each year, there are a few key celebrities who really know what they’re doing, including the Met Gala king and queen, and this year’s Chairs Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.

Mom and dad, king and queen, Hollywood perfect couple have many nick-names, and they truly are not shy of fashion icons. Blake Lively was a true show stopper, from the first look of the Gala her Atelier Versace dress was spot on in a rose gold colour and wrapped train, that halfway up the iconic staircase, changed colour. You heard that right, Blake technically had a costume change, where the train of her dress literally tuned into a new colour, with added baby blue and fine details.

Another amazing look of the night was by Austin Butler, who was accompanied by Priscilla Presley. Austin has an upcoming biopic where he portrays the one and only Elvis Presley, and he sure pulled off a very similar look tonight. Austin kept it simple yet stylish in all black and silk Prada.

Everyone just keeps falling in love with the one and only Sebastian Stan. The Pam and Tommy star wore a hot pink number by Valentino. A look that may have seemed a bit off from the rest of the crowd, Seb’s look definitely took risks with the all neon ensemble, but that is exactly what the Met Gala is for.

Another perfectly fit look was done by no other than Kim Kardashian herself. Her gilded look was the perfect age-appropriate dress since it was the actual dress that Marlyn Monroe wore to JFK’s birthday. With a slicked black bleach blonde look, her iconic skin-tight dress with jewelled accents was near perfect.

Each year the Met Gala is an event where you are allowed to wear the most outrageous ‘costume’ it is in fact an art event where what you wear should represent the exhibit and its pieces. Each year we get to experience a new kind of look and a new era of kings and queens who truly kill it at the Met Gala game.

Honourable mentions go to Katy Perry, Dakota Johnson, and the clever and spot-on duo of Jared Leto and Alessandro Michele.
