A Reboot In The Works?

In 2019, Hilary Duff announced that the Lizzie McGuire reboot would be set to air on Disney Plus- a fairly new streaming service at the time. From talks of producers during that time, the old cast was confirmed to make an appearance. Unfortunately, in 2020 the reboot was canceled.

In 2021, Duff made an appearance on Sirus XM, addressing the pin that was put in the possible reboot.

“I think they are really trying to figure out what kind of content they want living on Disney Plus, and that doesn’t totally align with, like, where I see Lizzie right now,” Says Duff.

“There always like a lot of conversations but I don’t think it’s going to be happening,” Hilary says, after explaining that she was not happy with the way that Disney tried to portray this new version of Lizzie.

Fast forward to 2023, the actress joined Andy Cohen on ‘Watch What Happens Live’. Cohen read out a few fan questions and of course, had to sneak in a Lizzie McGuire question.

In this clip, Cohen reads out, “If the Lizzie McGuire reboot could live up to your vision, would you move forward with the revival.” Hilary responds without hesitation, “Of course.”

“Disney Plus was very new,” She tells Cohen,  “And I think they were figuring out their …” she said, hesitant off, “and we were figuring out our …”

“I’m optimistic,” she ends off.
