This Sunday, October 11th, 2020 is International Day of the Girl – and I’d love to tell you a little bit about what The Body Shop is doing to get involved. Globally, COVID-19 is impeding girls from getting an education, pursuing opportunities for economic empowerment, accessing basic sanitation and vital healthcare, and putting girls and women at a greater risk of all forms of violence and abuse. In Canada alone, 1.5 million women lost their jobs in the first two months of the pandemic.

That’s why, to #StoptheSetback, The Body Shop Canada is partnering with Plan International Canada’s youth leadership program Girls Belong Here to highlight the power and potential of girls and young women through a virtual seat share with Hilary Lloyd, The Body Shop’s VP Marketing and Values, North America.

On this historic #DayoftheGirl, Girls Belong Here will be highlighting the power and leadership potential of girls and young women through virtual seat shares all over Canada.  But it doesn’t stop there.  Girls Belong Here is calling upon all leaders to help stop the setback of girls’ rights and gender equality by listening to girls, learning from girls, and most importantly investing in girls.
