Since Elon Musk took over Twitter he has implemented a lot of changes that have cause people to leave the app, but this new one may be the final nail in the blue bird’s coffin.

Today Musk, the owner of Twitter, introduced some new reforms to the app. He says they’re ‘Temporary Limits’ and they are supposed to “address extreme levels of data scraping & system manipulation” This drastically changes the way people can use the platform. These are the changes according to Elon Musk:

  • “Verified accounts are limited to reading 6000 posts/day”
  • “Unverified accounts to 600 posts/day”
  • “New unverified accounts to 300/day”

When a user reaches this limit they are met with this screen:

Understandably, people on Twitter are fed up with Elon Musk. So much so that the hashtag #Rip Twitter is trending number one on the platform, but it’s not just that, other users have created several hashtags referencing these changes that have made it to the trending page as well. Like: #Goodbye Twitter, #Twitter is dead, #Exceeded rate limit, and they’re referencing other social media apps that they will be leaving Twitter for. Such as, #Insta, #Tumblr and #Facebook.

People are using their limited Tweets to respond in the best way: with memes. Check out this one from @CPFC_GEO
