There is no question that Kim Kardashian has been a fashion mogul since first arriving on the scene as Paris Hilton’s personal assistant. From Juicy Couture velour sweatsuits to custom Thierry Mugler, Kim K has been an icon since day one.
Kim has always had a unique sense of style; she marches to the beat of her own drum and is so confident in anything she wears. Kim is not afraid to try anything. She attributes a lot of her more recent show-stopping looks to her now ex-husband, Kanye West. If you were avid Keeping Up With The Kardashians fan you will remember the episode where Kanye went through Kim’s closet and got rid of everything that Gen Z’s now refer to as “cheugy”. Kanye was a husband but also a stylist to Kim and was at the forefront of her most recent iconic looks. Let’s look at some of Kim K’s most iconic looks!
One of Kim’s most iconic fashion moments was when she took to the street of Calabasas and modelled for Yeezy. In the span of one day, she was photographed out and about in Calabasas in 9 different Yeezy for the release of Yeezy Season 6. Kim K’s schedule was too hectic and chose to use Calabasas as her runway.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye’s wedding was one of the weddings of the century, and with that, they served some jaw-dropping looks. For a night of pre-wedding events, Kim K dawned a custom, beaded, bridal bliss, Balmain dress.
For her rehearsal dinner, she wore a Maison Martin Margiela, white silk gown.
That Balmain dress and Margiela dress were just the tips of the iceberg. For her wedding dress, Kim had a custom dress designed by Riccardo Tisci! The creative director of Givenchy. Kim’s Givenchy Haute Couture white lace gown with sheer panelling and cut-outs, paired with a matching silk veil was a showstopper and the beginning of many long sleeve wedding dress inspirations.
Kim K’s Met Gala looks have always been the talk of the town. Kim’s first appearance at the Met Gala was in 2013 when she wore a floral Givenchy dress with matching gloves.
In 2014 Kim worked with Alber Elbaz custom gown where the theme for the year was “Charles James: Beyond Fashion”.
In 2015 Kim and Peter Dundas created a custom Roberto Cavalli gown. This was the first gown Peter Dundas had designed as creative director for Roberto Cavalli.
In 2016, for “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” Kim teamed up with a blingtastic gown. As Kim put it “I just wanted to go for it and be a blingy, sexy robot.”
In 2017, Kim went for a very minimal look. Working with Vivienne Westwood Kim wore a simple white gown.
In 2018, for the theme of “Heavenly Bodies” Kim once again went for a metallic look, but this time in collaboration with Versace.
For the most recent Met Gala in 2019, Kim worked with Thierry Mugler on a Sophia Loren in Boy on a Dolphin inspired look.
The last decade has been filled with iconic looks from Kim, do we think the next decade will as well?
