Lizzo Addresses Sexual Misconduct Lawsuit: “I Did Nothing Wrong”

Lizzo, the Grammy-winning artist behind hits like About Damn Time, broke her silence on the shocking sexual misconduct and hostile workplace allegations filed against her in August 2023. The 36-year-old singer, known for promoting self-love and body positivity, was accused by three former dancers of creating a toxic work environment, engaging in weight-shaming, and fostering inappropriate behavior during a workplace outing.

Allegations Against Lizzo

The accusations, detailed in a lawsuit by Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, claim Lizzo forced dancers to touch nude performers at a nightclub and pressured them to eat bananas protruding from the performers’ bodies. These allegations have sparked widespread public and media attention.

In response, Lizzo addressed the claims during a candid interview on the Baby, This is Keke Palmer podcast. She described the lawsuit as completely unexpected.

“2023 was an amazing year for me,” Lizzo said, highlighting career highs like her Grammy win for Record of the Yearand her first arena tour. “Then the tour ended, and three ex-dancers blindsided me with a lawsuit. I was completely surprised and deeply hurt.”

Lizzo Denies Wrongdoing

Lizzo firmly denies all accusations, calling many of the claims “silly” and “ridiculous.” She emphasized that participating in nightclub outings was never mandatory, stating, “I invited them out of kindness. Let’s be clear—I did nothing wrong.”

She expressed disappointment, adding, “These were people I gave opportunities to. I respected them as dancers, so I was like, what? Sexual harassment? It feels like the media is trying to turn this into something it’s not.”

Despite the lawsuit, Lizzo remains steadfast in her innocence. Insiders close to the star told Page Six that she refuses to settle, believing the claims to be “false.”

Lizzo Lawsuit Update 2024

While one lawsuit against Lizzo has already been dismissed, the case involving the three former dancers appears to be moving forward. The plaintiffs’ attorney, Ron Zambrano, accused Lizzo of failing to recognize the power imbalance inherent in a boss-employee relationship.

“There’s a power dynamic Lizzo utterly fails to appreciate,” Zambrano told Page Six. “We stand by the claims in the lawsuit and are prepared to prove everything in court.”

While Lizzo denies any wrongdoing, she acknowledges that the experience has taught her valuable lessons. “I have no regrets, but I’ve learned a lot. This has prepared me for the boss I’m becoming,” she said.
