At the age of 99 Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, has been laid to rest at Windsor Castle.

Today 30 members including Queen Elizabeth, her children, her grandchildren, and a few other members of the extended Royal family attended. Prince Philip had planned how the precession of his casket be taken to Windsor castle for 18 years.

He himself had designed a a custom military LandRover to carry his casket, which was followed by his children Charles, Anne, and Grandchildren William and Harry. This has been the first time Harry has been seen with the family since he moved to California last year.

Prince Harry was close with his grandfather Philip as he explained that they said a lot of laughs and enjoyed each other wit. Many of the days events came as a surprise to many people, the precession, the LandRover, seeing Prince Harry among his family, but what came to surprise most people was seeing the Queen.

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip have shared 73 years of marriage together, and Philip had stood by her through all their social events. Today it was seen that the Queen had stood alone during the funeral as an act of thanks to her late husband. It was Prince Philips job to stand by her, and she showed that it always will be.

As a last bid of goodbye to her late husband Queen Elizabeth placed a hand written note on his casket, signed “Lilibet” a childhood nickname of the Queen, that only Prince Philip used.
