The Last of Us Cast and Characters: Who Will Join Season 2?
April 15, 2025 – The much-anticipated The Last of Us Season 2 has arrived with new cast members and a nail-biting story.
No one wanted season 1 of The Last of Us to end. As we watched Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) journey across the United States in the wake of a devastating fungal pandemic, we hoped the adoptive father-daughter duo would find safety. But there was little hope for that. Being immune to the fungal infection, Ellie needed to travel to the Fireflies, a group trying to find a cure for the disease. But when Joel found out Ellie’s life would need to be sacrificed for the cure, he rebelled, killing many Firefly members to save her.
At the end of the season, Joel lied to Ellie, telling her that the Fireflies didn’t need her for the cure anymore. Ellie seemed to believe him, and together they set off to find shelter.
That was the end of season 1, and we’ve been patiently waiting for the next instalment of the hit HBO series. And finally, we’ve been rewarded.
Season 2 takes place 5 years after the events of season 1 and has an even bigger cast than before.

With many new faces joining the new season, it’s worth listing some of the characters joining The Last of Us family.
Besides Joel and Ellie, Abby played by Kaitlyn Dever and Dina played by Isabela Merced are joining the screen. Fans might recognize Dever from her roles on Apple Cider Vinegar and Booksmart, and Merced from Alien: Romulus and Madame Web.

Gabriel Luna will play Tommy. Luna worked on Terminator: Dark Fate and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Other characters from the game joining this season include Maria (Rutina Wesley), Jesse (Young Mazino), Manny (Danny Ramirez), Gail (Catherine O’Hara), Mel (Ariela Barer), Nora (Tati Gabrielle), and Owen (Spencer Lord).
