Jordana’s Wish

The Holiday season is the time to give appreciation, kindness, and thoughtfulness to our neighbours. A ten-year-old kid named Jordana Fiorini felt the exact same holiday spirit four years ago when she spent her last Christmas at SickKids hospital. As you can imagine, no child wants to spend Christmas in the hospital, but unfortunately, some kids had to. So when the Fiorini family received a gift card from another family on Christmas day, Jordana was inspired and wished to come back next year with gifts for families who have to spend Christmas day at SickKids. 

Her kind and passionate wish kicked off Jordana’s Rainbows Holiday Gift Card Drive. Every year, for the last four years, the Jordana’s Rainbows Foundation and SickKids Hospital raise funds to distribute gift cards to kids of every age who are spending their holidays at the hospital. The cards are hand-delivered in a “You Are Loved!” envelope. So far, they have donated over $56,000 worth of gift cards.

Perhaps you’re asking, why the gift card? Well, gift card donations are a great tool to extend additional support to families in need. Having to spend the holidays in the hospital can be challenging and gifting gift cards can relieve worries to the families and comfort them up with holiday cheer. Gift cards are also a convenient way to purchase necessities like groceries, clothing, or gas. There are different situations for every family, so using gift cards as a form of donation will allow the families to use them however they wish. 

How Can You Help

Jordana’s Rainbow Holiday Gift Card Drive is open from November 10th to December 10th. This year, their goal is to raise $30,000 and you can help by simply purchasing a Gift Card Donation in any dollar amount. You can donate online here. Any amount will do but word of mouth is also just as helpful. You can help the gift card drive by spreading the words to your friends and family! Or to anyone who’s willing to listen, really.
