Fans worldwide are excited following the release of the teaser trailer for the long-awaited sequel to the 2019 hit movie Joker.
The teaser, released on YouTube by Warner Brothers Productions, provides an appropriately chaotic look at the titular character. We’re here to break down the details!

The teaser opens with Arthur Fleck, played by Phoenix, in what appears to be a mental asylum—given the fact that the movie takes place in the DC Universe, this is most likely Arkham Asylum—after the murder of Murray Franklin, played by Robert De Niro, during a talk show taping.
At the asylum, Fleck meets fellow inmate Harley Quinn, played by Gaga. Throughout the teaser, the two wreak havoc on the city and its residents. Some scenes allude to the movie being a musical: both Fleck and Quinn can be seen performing on stage together in what appears to be a club. This fueled fans’ long-held speculation that the film is a musical.
Is The Joker 2 a Musical?
Per a related article, director Todd Phillips, who directed the first Joker movie in 2019, addressed those rumors at ComicCon in Las Vegas.
Phillips said the music “is an essential element” for the movie, and “it’ll make sense when you see it,”

Still in post-production, the film is scheduled for release on October 4th this year.
