Luigi Mangione was arrested today in connection with the Murder of Brian Thompson.
December 9, 2024- Police have released the identity of a man arrested on suspicion of being the killer of CEO Brian Thompson.
Luigi Mangione was arrested in Pennsylvania outside a McDonalds. The 26-year-old had a similar weapon to the one used in the shooting, along with a silencer and a fake ID.
Who is Luigi Mangione
Mangione is a former Ivy League student who grew up in Maryland. He graduated from Gilman Private School, where he was valedictorian and delivered the commencement speech.
Mangione is highly intelligent and well-educated. It is believed his frustration with the healthcare system stems from a back surgery he received prior to the assassination. This comes as users online have discovered his Good Reads account where he has reportedly read multiple books on dealing with back pain.
A review of Magiones profile caught the attention of users as well. He commented under Ted Kaczynskis’ (The Unabomber) manifesto calling him a “Political revolutionary.” He wrote further, “It’s easy to quickly and thoughtlessly write this off as the manifesto of a lunatic, in order to avoid facing some of the uncomfortable problems it identifies. But it’s simply impossible to ignore how prescient many of his predictions about modern society turned out,”
Luigi Mangione Arrested
Mangione was arrested in Altoona Pennsylvania after a nationwide manhunt was conducted. He was apprehended while eating in McDonalds after an employee delivered a tip to the authorities.
A further search of Mangione’s person revealed he was in possession of a 3d printed pistol, a silencer, and hollow point 9mm rounds. The firearm was missing its serial number and is what authorities refer to as a “ghost gun” a weapon which cannot be traced.
Police also recovered a three-page document detailing his distaste in corporate America, which authorities believe could have served as a motive for the shooting.

Mangione is set to be extradited from Pennsylvania to New York where he will likely be put under trial. The Pennsylvania court will have to determine likely guilt before requirements for extradition are met.

The news of Luigis’ capture has taken the internet by storm. With many voicing their support for the suspected shooter using the tag #freeluigi.
Some are referring to Mangione as a “Hero” and many others are calling for his swift release.
This support for Mangione comes from a mass consensus with many who believe that the American healthcare system is deeply flawed. Despite the serious charge, many online users strongly back the actions of Mangione.
An online fundraiser was even set up to assist Mangione with legal fees, tallying up over $100 since Monday afternoon.
For now, Luigi remains in custody and will likely be extradited to New York where he will face trial for the murder of Brian Thompson.
