Hunter Biden has been granted a Presidential Pardon by his Father, Joe Biden.
December 2, 2024- President Joe Biden has officially pardoned his son Hunter as the presidential transition creeps closer.
In an executive move that has sparked criticism from both Democrats and Republicans, President Biden has pardoned his son on multiple offenses including tax evasion and gun charges.
Hunter Biden Pardon
Hunter has been awaiting sentencing on the aforementioned charges for some time now. And while Biden has said in the past that he would not pardon his son. He apparently had a change of heart over Thanksgiving weekend.
In a statement issued by the White House, Biden states that “There has been an effort to break Hunter – who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution.”
Long-time friend and supporter of the Biden family Doug Jones said, “If you are a father and you have this power, I don’t see how anybody could fault the president of the United States for telling the world that his son has been through enough.”
Biden’s decision to pardon his son has drawn criticisms as well. Senator Gary Peters called the move “an improper use of power.” While Democrat Marie Gluesenkamp Perez said that Biden, “Made the wrong move.”
