The cast of a Beatles biopic has been announced at CinemaCon. However, this biopic promises to do something different to its peers. Reportedly, the Beatles story will take place across four films instead of just one.
Beatles Biopic
During CinemaCon, Harris Dickinson, Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, and Joseph Quinn took to the stage. It was revealed that the actors would respectively play John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison in an upcoming Beatles project.
The project will reportedly be four inter-connected Beatles biopics, each following the perspective of a different member. In addition, Skyfall director Sam Mendes will be at the helm.
Beatles Movies
The upcoming films have received the blessings of Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney. Meanwhile, the families of George Harrison and John Lennon have done the same. Apple Corps Ltd has also agreed to letting the crew have full life story and music rights. Moreover, Sony Pictures and Neal Street Productions are producing the project. Hence, the films are officially underway and will allegedly be released in 2027.
The Beatles Songs
At CinemaCon, Mendes took to the stage to explain his thought process behind the upcoming project. The director stated that he believed that one film would not do the band justice. However, he was also not interested in making a TV series.
“We’re not just making one film about the Beatles, we’re making four,” Mendes said. “Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little more deeply.”
However, the Beatles are not the only iconic music act receiving the biopic treatment. For instance, a Michael Jackson film is also set to be released in the future.
