Zendaya

Zendaya recently walked down Venice Film Festival’s red carpet wearing an impressive Balmain gown with a hairstyle that made her look like she just came out of the water. The wet-looking finger waves were done by hairstylist, Antoinette. The slickness of the waves is a modernized approach to Hollywood glam.

Jennifer Lopez

J-Lo’s dewy skin was matched by her dewy hair during her appearance at American Music Awards last year. Her hairstylist, Chris Appleton shared in an interview that he used a twenty-dollar hair product called Color Wow Pop & Lock Frizz-Control and Glossing Serum to achieve this wet look. First, he sectioned J-Lo’s dry hair into two-inch sections before applying the glossing product, then he curled her hair using a titanium curling iron on its lowest heat setting to achieve effortless beach waves.

Margot Robbie

The wet hair trend is also applicable to short bobs. Margot Robbie shows us how to use this trend to frame your face. This side-part wet hairstyle she wore in 2017, captures the actress’s beautiful facial features.

How To Do it Yourself?

So how exactly can you recreate this look at home? The professional hair brand, Schwarzkopf shared in a blog post how to create the wet hair look. First, it starts with dry hair. You can blow-dry the hair into the shape that you want– either pushed back or side-part–then using a hair straightener, straighten the hair as close to the head. Apply a small amount of hair gel by spreading it with your fingers, then comb it with a fine-tooth comb (this is if you wish to achieve a sleek finish). Set it with hairspray and blow-dry it a little bit more and you’re done! The gel makes the hair look glossy but if you want a softer finish, Schwarzkopf recommends mixing gel and wax instead.

Now that you know how to do it and you’ve seen celebrity inspirations, it’s time to give it a go! Wear it out on a night out with friends, or a fancy date night with the S/O.
