Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry reportedly had been asked by King Charles to vacate their former U.K. home! We have more details on the couple’s eviction.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Eviction

Multiple news sources have noted that the couple’s former residence, Frogmore Cottage, has now been vacated after an order from King Charles. The king supposedly wanted Prince Andrew to move into the house, thus needing Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to leave. The house was gifted by Queen Elizabeth to the couple after they got married in 2018. Although they had chosen to reside in California since 2020, Markle and the prince still regularly visited the cottage, most recently in June 2022 when they visited the late queen and also celebrated daughter Lillibeth‘s birthday party.

Aside from Prince Andrew’s move to Frogmore Cottage, the Duchess and Duke of Sussex’s eviction was likely a repercussion of Prince Harry publishing his shocking book, Spare. Several news outlets, including Page Six, have branded the memoir as provocative. The title itself refers to the prince’s belief that he has always been a spare and is in the shadow of his older brother Prince William.

History of the Frogmore Cottage

According to Vogue, the cottage was built in 1801 at the request of Queen Charlotte and was originally called the Double Garden Cottage. The cottage had housed a number of famous guests, including Queen Victoria’s personal assistant Abdul Karim. Ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle departed from Buckingham Palace, the cottage has housed Princess Eugene and Jack Brooksbank on and off.

Despite having been just evicted, it seems that Prince Harry and his wife were still able to have fun. Daily Mail reported that the couple was seen having a date night at a West Hollywood private club, San Vincente Bungalows, in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Markle was spotted wearing an expensive pair of Christian Dior high heels and a clutch bag also from the same designer.
