“There’s been this misconception about me being this monster or not having remorse, that’s just not true. That night was a night that everyone was drunk… I said some very immature things. If I could turn back the series of events… I would, but I can’t.” he added. “But to think that I am some sort of callous individual is not the case. The victim was my friend… [and] she still is to this day. I did wrong that night and I take full responsibility and culpability for it.” he said in his statements.

However, Lanez took to Instagram on Thursday to explain that his statements were not an apology.

“I have never let a hard time intimidate me,” he wrote. “Regardless of how they try to spin my words, I have always maintained my innocence and I always will. This week in court I took responsibility for all verbal and intimate moments that I shared with the parties involved. That’s it.”

“I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do. … This is nothing but another moment where my back is against the wall and I refuse to stop fighting till I come out victorious. Tough times don’t last, tough people do.” the rapper added.
